Learn to Play the Highland Bagpipes or Scottish Drumming
Getting started is easy and does not require a major investment.
AP&D Student Program
Our program combines “On-line” learning with 1:1 support weekly with one of our experienced players. The “On-line portion of our program cost about the same as a 30 minute in person lesson; but has the advantage of accessing lessons daily, so one can progress at a faster pace if one puts in the time. Each week we then meet with students to assess progress, help with resolving issues and advise path forward. We can also assist with recommendations for both the practice chanter and purchase of bagpipes.
To get started you would need to purchase a practice chanter. If you are interested in snare drumming you would need a practice pad & sticks. These materials would total around $80 to $150 depending on which instrument you have interest and where you purchase. We can help point you in the right direction
Once a student has advance to a prescribed point, we would recommend investing in a set of Highland Bagpipes which can run around $1,100 for a starter set and we would also have the student start playing with the band. If you are a drumming student, the band typically provide the drum for anyone to play: snare, tenor or bass.
